Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina began her career with hilarious hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comedic perspective before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants who resided in Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was through the instrument of trumpet. After a classical and jazz education her interest in hip-hop grew as a teen. Following a focus on education, she graduated with a degree in journalism in college and a women's studies major. When she graduated, she started to pursue music as her main focus. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an online hit, and it was featured in her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also featured popular hits, including the body positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$. The third track was linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide that was published in 2015. This was another project. Apart from being a published author, her other career was as a performer. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk she appeared in films like Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. Her breakout role was in Dude Ocean's 8 along with Crazy Rich Asians. In June she debuted her debut film, In Fina We Trust.
